    Cardinals Cards get Mujica

Cardinals have acquired right-handed reliever Edward Mujica from the Marlins for prospect infielder Zack Cox.
Mujica comes with a track record of success, but holds an underwhelming 4.38 ERA and 26/9 K/BB ratio over 39 innings this season. He'll pitch in a set-up role with St. Louis. Cox, the Cards' 2010 first-round pick, has a disappointing .254/.294/.421 batting line through 84 games with Triple-A Memphis this season. Still, it's a nice buy-low opportunity for Miami.
Seems like a solid deal for both. I don't think Cox is as bad as he has been playing and the same goes for Mujica. Cards needed some bullpen help and Cox was blocked by Freese.

Thanks to the increased coverage of college baseball on ESPNU, I remember Cox on Arkansas in college. He was pretty good. Good gamble for an inconsistent reliever.
