    Cardinals Cards Interested In Furcal

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal has backed up previous reports that the Cardinals are indeed after Rafael Furcal, but he says a trade is "not a lock to happen."
Rosenthal notes that the Cards view Furcal as a potential leadoff man and big defensive upgrade to Ryan Theriot at shortstop. The Diamondbacks are another team that's interested in the Dodgers' shortstop, with Rosenthal previously reporting that the Brewers are out of the running.
A healthy Furcal can be MVP material so if the Cards can capture that in a bottle, they would be the favorites in the Central. Skip Schumaker has been red hot so if a deal happens, I don't know what would happen to Theriot. Utility role I guess.

Furcal has to approve any trade, but a deal seems close at this point.

Furcal has accepted the trade and will be a Cardinal. The Central is going to be exciting to watch til the end.

Cards got Furcal for Alex Castellanos and $2.5 million. Not bad for the Dodgers.

Maybe Furcal steadies the defense at SS for the Cards.

He's probably pissed that they kept Carroll.

Deals still pay dividends for Cards, Braves | MLB.com: News

And after Friday's game, Furcal and Bourn were 1-2 in the National League in leadoff on-base percentage at .423 and .395. Furcal had a .926 OPS with 13 walks and 14 strikeouts.

If you didn't already know, I happen to really, really, really hate bad trades. I mean, if we're going to trade one of the best shortstops in the league to the eventual World Series champs, get something worth a shit other than just pocket change for Frank McCourt.

Furcal had no trade value when he was traded.

It's almost like you shouldn't trade All Star players when their trade value is at its lowest, huh?

Exactly. If you listen to reactionary fans you just cut them because they're taking up space.

90% of the Dodgers would have been out of jobs then.
