    Cardinals Valverde?

    per rotoworld:

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Cardinals have made an offer for free agent reliever Jose Valverde.

Well that didn't take long. It's not clear how this would affect incumbent closer Ryan Franklin, but Valverde is the best reliever remaining on the free agent. Valverde, 31, posted a 2.33 ERA and 1.13 WHIP last season while converting 25 of 29 save opportunities. Because Valverde is a Type A free agent, it would cost the Cardinals their first-round pick.
Please God no! For Reds fans sake, this would hurt. I was looking forward to them trying Franklin out for another tenure. Valverde is nasty. Either way, I guess this may happen. I don't know of any other teams who have made an offer.
