The club is expected to announce this weekend an agreement with Ryan Franklin on a contract extension that includes his $2.75 million option for 2010 plus an additional season, sources familiar with negotiations confirmed Thursday.

Including the club option, the deal is worth about $6.5 million plus numerous appearance incentives and virtually assures the All-Star reliever and Oklahoma resident will finish his career in St. Louis.

I'm not sure if he'll hold up through the deal performance-wise, but not it's not a huge contract. Perhaps now he can afford to trim that facial hair of his.

I doubt that, I am sure part of the reason he is getting offered such a generous deal is to give him the cash neccessary to properly maintenance it. I heard there is even a rumored incentive he could get if he dyes it like Speizo did.
