    Cardinals Carpenter Out 4-6 Weeks

Chris Carpenter will need four-to-eight weeks to recover from a torn oblique muscle, according to GM John Mozeliak.
An MRI confirmed the injury Thursday, which was what the team's medical staff initially thought. This is a tough loss as Carpenter looked strong in his first two outings before the injury - he was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, nine strikeouts and a 0.70 WHIP through 10 innings.
*********! Seems like Carpenter can never catch a break. Losing for a month will hurt but the Cards could survive but only if Wellemeyer and Pineiro step it up.

The Cards always seem to find a way to survive. Someone always steps up when they need help.

Chris Carpenter is still feeling the pain of his torn left oblique muscle.
"I wont be able to do anything until (the pain) is totally all gone. And it’s not," Carpenter said Tuesday. "I can’t do anything other than ride the bike. When I sneeze, it hurts. When I roll over in bed, it hurts." Carp was given a loose 4-8 week recovery range after he was placed on the disabled list. It sounds like he might need the full eight weeks.
    Terrible news!!

Chris Carpenter played catch Monday and hopes to throw from the mound within a week's time, according to MLB.com.
Carpenter continues to progress nicely from his torn left oblique. Now that he has begun tossing the ball around, this next week will be a crucial point in his rehab, and will also reveal a more accurate return date. He's still likely to return in late May or early June.
Lets all hope for late May. It is amazing the Cards are in first place this early without him.

Chris Carpenter threw a bullpen session Tuesday and reported no problems.
Carpenter will throw another session Friday and if that goes well, he should rejoin the Cardinals next week.
Great news!! Cards are doing fine without him but think how badly they could be running away with the division with him.

Might as well have Mark Prior at this point.
