    Player Who will be closer?

Chris Perez has been sidelined with an injury so he hasn't been pitching much in Spring Training. There is a chance that he will start the season in Memphis. It's becoming more likely that Jason "Mad Hungarian" Motte may start the season off as the closer for the Cardinals. Motte looked impressive late in the season last year, and could be a good closer for us. One thing about Motte is that he doesn't have a lot of experience as a pitcher, but he keeps getting better. If Perez isn't ready, then I would like to see Motte given a shot in the 9th.

How did Motte get the nickname "Mad Hungarian"? How many Cards closers can have that name?

Cards are in trouble in that department regardless of who it is. Looks like Franklin will get the first shot

He doesn't, I just said that since he acts a lot like Al Hrabowski used to act while on the mound. He has that same fire and intensity taht the Mad Hungarian used to have..

We all saw how well that worked last year.
