The Cards are in desperate need for somebody that can finish the game in the 9th inning. Too many games have been lost because they don't have a reliable closer. So what do we do? Here are some options that I think are worth trying.

1) Adam Wainwright was a great closer in 2006. Although, he is also a great starter, so the question is do you want him to pitch give you a good start evry 5 days or do you want him to take over that closer role again. The downside is that Wainwright is still about a week away from returning.

2) Braden Looper has been a closer in the past for the Marlins. He could take over the cloer role for the Cardinals, but he might see it as a demotion. He has pitched very well as a starter, so taking him out of the rotation would hurt.

3) Chris Perez is the closer of the future, but is he ready? I would love to see him given a shot, but I think TOny LaRussa wants to bring him along slower. We need something now, and at times, he looks amazing out on the mound.

Something needs to be done, and fast.
