Righthander Chris Carpenter was back with the Cardinals, at manager Tony La Russa's request, and will throw pregame sessions today and Friday before returning to Florida to continue his rehabilitation from elbow surgery.

Carpenter said he was encouraged by how his arm had felt lately, after he had taken a hiatus when his elbow had flared up a couple of weeks ago.

"I was very pleased with my last week and a half," he said. "I haven't had any issues whatsoever."
Last night during the game, they mentioned the possibility of Carpenter being used out of the bullpen soon if he isn't ready to start. I just hope they are careful with him. I'd love to see Carp back, but not if it means he will just go back on the DL.
