As for the Cards Looper and Wellmeyer will be key to holding up the Cards bullpen. If they can pitc h good at he bac k end of that rotation when Mulder and Carpenter come back and be effective the Carcd will have 5 strong starters.

Thompson can still be in the mix if they need him to be. He was bumped to the pen when Pineiro returned, but I like him as a starter. If one of the Cards 5 faulters... then Thomson is there for back-up.

Everyone is forgetting about Matt Clement too... he should be back within the next month.

Oh yeah, I did forget about Clemente. The Cards are going to get healthier soon then, just like the Brewers.

A team can not have too much pitching these days.

It sounds like Mulder isn't as close to coming back as was first reported. The Cardinals want to keep him on rehab until he looks like the Mark Mulder of old.

Why rush him when they are playing as wel as they are right now anyways.

Their pitching has been very impressive to start the season. Let Mulder get stronger and bring him back when the time is right. Sounds like good smart baseball operations to me.

Mulder is 30 which is the prime of your life. I have no doubt he will be back. Question is will he be affective.

I can't agree with that. I think Mulder still can be very good. Matt Clement is the one that I'm worried about being done, and I've been a Matt Clement fan even when he was a <shudders> cub.

I feel Clement has the better chance of the two to getting back to their former self.

i just dont think he can ever be what he was. too many health problems. He may hang around for awhile longer, he's just not going to be what he was with the A's.

Clement is toast. both physically and mentally. always had great stuff, but he always reminded me of a bit of a flake.
