    Molina Gets Four Year Deal

Yadier Molina's four-year deal with the Cardinals is worth $15.5 million.
Molina gets a $250,000 signing bonus, $1.75 million this year, $3.25 million in 2009, $4.25 million in 2010 and $5.25 million in 2011. The deal includes a $7 million club option for 2012 with a $750,000 buyout, and the option increases to $7.5 million if he is traded.
Molina had a good season in 07 and is the best defensive catcher in the league. Not a bad deal at all for the Cards. Question is what are they going to do with Bryan Anderson, their top prospect catcher? They have to trade it for some pitching at some point.

Good signing by the Cardinals. He is a good backstop.

Lot of money for a .600 OPS.

That is hardly a lot of money. If Brett Tomko can make $3mil, this is a steal.

You're not smart just because someone is stupider than you.

    Speaking of smart...
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

How's this? He's not being paid for his offense and he's not being paid a lot.
