Mark Mulder's rotator cuff remains damaged, an MRI revealed Wednesday, so he's scheduled to undergo another shoulder surgery.
Mulder's labrum has healed, but the rotator cuff is still giving him problems. It's possible his 2008 will be a carbon copy of his 2007, as he could say he's returning in July and then eventually come back in September at 50-60 percent. It looks like the Cardinals might get nothing in return for the $13 million they invested in him as he was coming off major shoulder surgery last winter.
$13 million is a lot for a risk like Mulder and the Cardinals are in need of pitching this offseason. Carpenter and Looper will both be question marks. Carpenter is coming off surgery and Looper hasn't been a starter before this season. We will have to wait and see how he recovers. Jocketty has his work cut out for him.
