Re: The Cards News Thread
I'm watching the Cardinals vs. Rockies game right now, and they just showed Larry Walker wearing a cardinals uniform and sitting in the Cards dugout. They are in Colorado, and Walker played 10 years for the Rockies, but he's rooting for the Cardinals? I wouldn't think the Rockies would be too happy about that.

Ankiel just hosed a guy at third! That guy just happened to be Willy Taveras!! Great throw!
Re: The Cards News Thread
Man, that game last night had me all upset. I had some money on the Cards and I specifically put the money down because their bullpen has better numbers than the Pirates. Sure enough, it was the Cards that blew the big lead in the 9th to go extra innings and then blow it again in the 10th. Sick game!

Cardinals sent LHP Royce Ring outright to Triple-A Memphis.

Troy Glaus returned from his checkup in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon and reported that his surgically repaired right shoulder is "progressing."
Re: The Cards News Thread
David Freese went 3-for-4 and homered off Josh Beckett as the Cardinals' third baseman on Friday.

Glaus, Garcia put on 15-day DL | MLB.com: News
The Cardinals officially placed Troy Glaus and Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday. The move is retroactive to Friday, meaning both would essentially be eligible to come off their DL stint on April 11.
The move came as no surprise considering neither player was expected back by Opening Day.
Minor setback for the Cards.

Albert Pujols collected seven assists Wednesday, the most in the majors by a first baseman since the Pirates’ Bob Robertson had eight on June 21, 1971.
Now he just needs to have similar games against every team in the league. Remarkably, even though he's the game's best defensive first baseman, Pujols has been awarded just one Gold Glove. Maybe he earned Pirates manager John Russell's vote tonight.
Is there anything this man can't do?

Brett Wallace went 4-for-5 with two homers and six RBI for Double-A Springfield on Thursday.
Wallace is awfully raw defensively at third base, so the Cardinals decided against giving him a chance to take over as the replacement for Troy Glaus at the start of the year. However, he's already probably an offensive upgrade over David Freese and the rest of the team's options at the position. He'll be the heavy favorite for Texas League MVP honors if he stays with Springfield all year.
The future looks bright at third base!!

I was hoping to see Wallace get the shot at 3B over Freese this year, but some time in Memphis probably is best. Considering he was drafted just last year. He is just developing so fast, and looks to be so good. He isn't ever going to win a gold glove at 3B, but he can hit. I'd be surprised if he didn't play in St. Louis sometime this year. Probably sooner than later.

Go on with your bad self Mr Garcia.
