    Edmonds to have surgery

Jim Edmonds is scheduled to have surgery on his right shoulder in the next two to three weeks.
The Cardinals will have to decide by Nov. 15 whether to exercise Edmonds' $10 million option for 2007. Considering there's a $3 million buyout attached to the option -- making it a $7 million decision -- it should be an easy call to retain him. However, the Cardinals have been debating about it for months.
It's hard to do since he had his worst year last year in a Cards uniform.

The St. Louis Cardinals' center fielder on Wednesday underwent arthroscopic surgery on his balky right shoulder. The injury clearly impacted the 36-year-old Edmonds throughout much of the 2006 season.
Edmonds over the years has been one of the best at hitting the chest high fastball out of the park. Last season he couldn't so hopefully this surgery will allow him to continue to play for another five seasons.
