    Edmonds is staying?

The Cardinals are close to re-signing Jim Edmonds to a two-year deal, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
The deal would be worth about $20 million, which would make it a $10 million extension. The Cardinals can already keep Edmonds for next year by picking up his $10 million option.
With Encarnacion *****ing about playing time after the Series, they could trade him and bring back fan favorite J.D. Drew. A little much for Edmonds but hey its the Cards.

There goes the slim chance he was returning to the Angels.

Cardinals re-signed outfielder Jim Edmonds to a two-year contract.
Either that or they traded for Carlos Beltran. According to the team's press release, the deal "will keep the league's premier center fielder in a Cardinals uniform through 2008." The terms of the deal weren't announced, but it's believed Edmonds received about $10 million per year. The Cardinals already had a $10 million option on Edmonds for 2007.
2 yrs for $19 million. The Cards are also close to signing Luis Gonzalez to a one year deal. Now what to do with Duncan? Trade him for pitching?

Mark Hendrickson for Chris Duncan. The Cardinals love veteran lefties.

Dodgers have Loney who I like a bunch. Not much need for Duncan. Giants need a first baseman though.

If nothing more, Duncan can serve as a pinch-hitter and prevent Ned Colletti from overpaying for more Bill Mueller types in free agency.
