    Soriano may become a Card?

Have you guys heard anything on this? I read a little something elsewhere:

Alfonso Soriano, LF--Washington Nationals: Alfonso could be headed to the Stl. Cardinals for a minor league/pitching package

Unless it is Reyes, I don't see who else could get it done for Soriano.

The Yankees, missing both corner outfielders with serious injuries, have interest in Soriano, but they don't believe they'll be able to meet the Nationals' asking price. The Angels and Cardinals could intensify their interest as the deadline approaches.

Just something to talk about for now. But it is something that Jocketty may be working as we speak.

I don't know, Lambert/Hawksworth/Rasmus/Greene may be attractive to the Nats. Especially because the Yankees will likely be stingy with Hughes.

Cards have some chips to throw in the pot, but Reyes won't be one of them especially with marquis, Mulder and Suppan pitching like shit. Could you imagine a lineup going
    Eckstein
    Soriano
    Pujols
    Rolen
    Edmonds
    Encanacion
    Miles
    Molina

Unless that minor leaguers name was Reyes. The Nationals would have to be idiots not to jump at that. Bowden isn't an idiot.

Of course it will take more than one prospect to get Soriano, everyone knows that. Reyes isn't going anywhere because their pitching right now is shit and they NEED him. Soriano can't pitch last I heard. They have other chips to play but not as appetizing as other teams.

I just can't picture Soriano in a Cards uniform...besides Reyes, what other specs do they have that the Nats might want?

Maybe Wainright to replace the arms that went to the Reds?

Although not enough, I am thinking this deal will be a lot more even than the aforementioned Reds deal. Jocketty won't be handled like Krivsky was by Jimbo.

Jocketty said he's not moving Reyes or Wainwright. I rather have Wainwright over Reyes myself
