    Getting it done without the star

    Of course we all know that Pujols has been hurt and Edmonds has been spending unwanted time at 1B. But these Cards are still figuring out a way to win. I am not saying that Pujols is their whole team. I am actually implying that this team is so stacked that they can beat up on anyone without their star.

    So what is it about this team that places them above everyone else even without their superstar? Is this team a whole even without the sum of its parts?

    They have the pitching to compete without Pujols is the main thing. They have the best bullpen in the NL and they still have the best third baseman in baseball. I have to give credit to LaRussa for getting the most out of what he's got. I don't find him to be a good manager in the post season but a good one in the regular season.
