Jocketty has some big decisions ahead
GORDO: With the Cards paying both Pujols and Rolen for the long haul, investing more long-term money in the offense will be difficult. It will be difficult to pick up Edmonds’ option for next year unless he produces a fabulous ’06 season and proves durable.

Going forward, Carpenter will be due a HUGE raise -– which will impact what the team will or won’t offer Mulder as free agency nears.
You guy think that this could be the beginning of the Cards drop off? Is this the last season that they will havethe most dominate team in the NL on paper? Big choices are coming forth for the Card GM.

The Cardinals are more dependent than any team on baseball on just a few non-Bonds players. If anyone of those players don't perform, the team is lost.

The Cards will be in great shape. Reyes can replace Mulder and they still have a core of Rolen, Pujols, Molina, Rodriguez and plenty of young relievers like Hancock, Flores, and Tyler Green. Eckstein won't be hard to retain. Encarnacion will be there for two more years and they will pick up Edmonds' option. Jocketty always goes out and gets the perfect players for that town.
