    5 appearances and 8.2 innings don't make a season.

    Good riddance.

The difference between Quantril and May/Redding is wheras May and Redding have both had 1 decent season surrounded by many crap seasons, Quantril has had a great career as a middle reliever with one bad half a season in New York.

That aside, i'm just glad I no longer have to suffer through any more games with Tim Redding or Darrell May on the mound for the Padres

Quantrill was not all that dependable last year. He was not a world beater in 2003 either.

I don't see Redding and/or May witht he Yankees too long if they don't produce.

I'll gladly take 89 appearences with a 1.75 ERA any year, regardless of whether someone qualifies that as "world beater" or not.

I don't see Redding and/or May on any major league roster if they keep...ahem..producing the way they've been.

My bad I was looking at the 2 years in NY. He was fabulous with LA, but stunk it up here. So, it was more than 1 bad half.

you're right. I had actually thought he did well with New York last year, but then saw otherwise when I went to look up his 2003 stats, knowing full well that he was great when he was with LA.

Either way, he has been successful for the most part since he started being used exclusively as a relief pitcher. It's much more believeable to think Quantrill will do great in San Diego than it is to believe May and/or Redding will even do mediocre anywhere.

For the record, don't take this as an anti-Yankees thread (even though I do dislike the Yanks) I'd be talking the same smack if May/Redding were traded to anywhere else and posted a similar line. The fact that it's with the Yankees just makes it that much better
