New York Mets pitcher Ambiorix Burgos was released from jail Wednesday following a car crash that killed two women.

A judge ordered him to pay $57,000 and appear every two weeks before a magistrate until a court date is set. The 24-year-old reliever is prohibited from leaving the country without permission from an appeals court.

Burgos is accused of abandoning the victims and fleeing after the Sept. 30 car crash, charges that can carry six months to two years in prison. Police have said the Hummer truck registered to him struck pedestrians Josefina Minaya Martinez, 38, and Angely Fana, 29.

He missed all of last season with an injury.
