    Kevin Millar...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

He threw out the first pitch of Game 7 of the ALCS for the Red Sox...EVEN THOUGH HE'S ON THE ORIOLES!!!!

    WHO ARE THEIR DIVISION RIVALS!!!

And then he announced the lineup for FOX with a huge smile on his face and everyone's nicknames.

Now I'd be perfectly fine with this if it was, say, Bill Mueller, who's retired.

BUT HE'S ON THEIR DIVISION RIVAL!!!!

    What a tool.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Also did a commercial for FOX to cheer on the Red Sox.

Reminder Red Sox fans of their comeback in '04.

you are right, he is a tool.

I think he is a FA or at least the O's should get rid of him.

Re: Kevin Millar...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I'm glad someone else made a thread about this, I was thinking the same as I was watching it... absolutely appalling. You're not a Red Sox player anymore. If he was retired- no problem... but he is an Oriole, not only another team, but a division rival. It sends a bad message to your current team and teammates.

I know certain players will always have an attachment to a certain team they played for, and its no surprise Millar has an attachment to that 2004 Red Sox team... but memories are for when you're retired.

Also, why can't the Red Sox find players who aren't currently employed by other major league teams to take place in these festivities. I know 2004 is their only real moment in the sun in quite some time... but get a retired player, or a boston area celebrity. I'm a Yankee fan, so call me biased all you want, but this is what separates the two organizations.

Re: Kevin Millar...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

The message he sent was so bad that when he asked the Orioles if he could do it, they said yes.

Really, I don't see this as much different than Lowe and Roberts and such coming back in Sox uniforms to get their rings after the 2004 season in the ceremony prior to opening day.

I see absolutely no problem with Kevin Millar doing this. The Orioles aren't in the playoffs, and essentially, Kevin Millar's on the equivilent of summer vacation. He's visiting his former team, throwing out a ceremonial pitch, and reading off the lineups.

It's not a big deal and I don't see him doing anything wrong. An Oriole who is offended by this has skin thinner than paper.
