He would just corrode the pen, like he did for the yankees. He just isn't good on these big market teams. It's crazy to think he was once a young up and coming potential ace for the tigers.

Piss poor management is the only reason I can think of. There are serious talks of them trading Santana for Crawford which tels me they have no clue and don't care about the $$$.
I don't get the move either, other than for the purpose of not overworking Jered's arm in the bigs like the Cubs did with Prior in his rookie season. But this is the same front office that selected Joe Saunders over Scott Kazmir for monetary reasons.
The dumbest move might come when someone trades for his ass.
