I tell you what. I actually thought Melvin did the best he could. He had nothing to work with. The team was old back then. It was the same thing. Hargrove at least has couple of new batters to work with and he will have some young pitchers to work with too.
I think Melvin will win the NL Manager of the Year. His D-Backs are playing well.
I know you and I post at this other M's board and guys like TopCat and others constantly made fun of Melvin. Again, he did what he could with that team. Lou knew the writing in the wall so he ran out of Dodge before it got ugly.
