DETROIT -- Mariners pitcher Jorge Campillo will require Tommy John surgery after an MRI revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
Campillo had problems warming up in the bullpen on Tuesday night, and left his first Major League start after only one inning. Campillo indicated afterward that he felt discomfort earlier this season while pitching for Triple-A Tacoma, but that he thought the elbow was 100 percent prior to Tuesday's setback.

Dr. Larry Pedegana, the team's medical director, reviewed the MRI, but no date has been set for the surgery. Seattle placed Campillo on the disabled list on Wednesday.
This is a shame. ANOTHER MARINERS STARTING PITCHER NEEDS TOMMY JOHN. It seems like we have Mr John on our payroll.
