He hit a career .268 with half of his games in COORS FIELD. Someone get the Aspirin ready.

That was six seasons ago for less than a season. He's better than Rob Johnson and Adam Moore

They paid 3.5 M for a guy with a .286 OBP and .710 career OPS.

Who also possesses a little pop and is good defensively. That's what catchers are making this offseason and I agree its absurd but you can't deny its an improvement. Well you can but you would be wrong. I would be more upset about having the weakest hitting infield in MLB history possibly.

Id rather give 500 ABs to a 26 yr old Adam Moore before a 31 yr old Miguel Olivo. Our IF is in Tacoma next season lol.

You just have to understand that Reefer views crap as an upgrade for any team. Superduperstar Miguel Olivo included. As soon as Seattle signs Mark Kotsay, he's going to hand him the MVP. Go Mariners!

I haven't seen nearly as much criticism over the Internet of the Olivo signing as I have for the Rod Barajas signing, so you have that to go on.

Seattle catchers hit .201/.263/.303 with 10 HRs and 42 RBI last season. How is Olivo not an upgrade?

He only helps with the SLG. The minimal BA and OBP gains are not worth a 3.5 M upgrade in Olivo. I'm sorry, not a damn chance.

The offense is already going to be worse than last year, if it is even possible. Olivo does NOT fit this park. So when hes hitting .230/.280/maybe .400ish by June. I'll be ready to say I told you so.

It probably is an upgrade but you kinda sound like PFF here talking about how the Padres are better "on paper" because they upgraded crap with a dirty rock.

Re: Seattle gives Miguel "No Stick" Olivo, 7 M over 2 years.

I sound nothing like PFF as I am being rational. Olivo is a better hitter now than his first time being in Seattle and is better than anything Seattle had last year. Plus its not all about his offense. The man can throw out some runners trying to steal. I've already said the money is wrong but that catchers are going for that price these days. Barajas got the same amount from LA. What else do you want from me?
