Mariners Mariners, Felix Hernandez reach deal

    Felix agrees to one-year, $3.8M deal | MLB.com: News

1 year, $3.8 million. More years would have been good. Why don't they build the franchise around him?

That's just 1 year to avoid arbitration...trust me, the Mariners don't have any intention of letting him get away.

...then again, they are a Seattle team
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Because after getting absolutely burned on the Bedard trade, they are going to avoid dealing long term with a young pitcher.

All bets are off on Felix, but they would be the guy they would give a long term deal to.

Ironically, the Mariners just gave Bedard a 1 year, $7.75 million with incentives. And he didn't really suck that bad; he was hurt and could be back on top again when he gets healthy this year. So the trade wasn't a complete failure yet.

Yes, the trade was a failure. Look at what they gave up for Bedard. Bedard was a huge risk and it blew up in their faces.

I'd give Bedard, Clement, and a shit ton more for just Tillman back. Thanks a lot Bavasi.
