Rays Series Overview- Tampa Bay Devil Rays vs Seattle Mariners

Tampa Bay D-Rays vs Seattle Mariners
    Safeco Field
    June 3rd-June 5th

    Recently-
The D-Rays are still sucking wind, as they were swept by the hapless A's earlier in the week. The M's took 2 of 3 from the much improved Jays team.

    Probable Starters
Today- Casey Fossum (2-3, 3.82 ERA) vs Aaron Sele (4-4, 4.24)
Fossum has pwned the M's in the past. Then again so has lefties this season for the M's. Sele has been very hot lately and will probably get Pat Borders behind the plate. Those two seem to be on the same page.

Tomorrow- Scott Kazmir (2-4, 3.82) vs Joel "Bleach Brain" Pineiro (2-3, 6.66)
The rookie vs the overrated. Kazmir has taken his lumps but still is doing a better job than the struggling Pineiro, who has a 8.80 ERA at the Safe this season. Kazmir's only start vs the M's resulted in 5 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 walks.

Sunday- Hideo Nomo (3-5, 6.52) vs Jamie Moyer (5-2, 5.28)
Father time decided to have this duo compete. The sad thing is they are both better than Pineiro. Should be an intresting matchup.

    By the Numbers
    1.71- ERA by Everyday Eddie
34.1- IP by Juieo Mateo this season
    .807- OPS of Pat Borders
    .969- OPS of Damon Hollins
34- # of BBs by Kazmir
124- HRs allowed by Both pitching staffs. (Combined, each with 62)

As crazy as it sounds, Pineiro's stuff is on early. He isn't throwing balls, his fastball is up around 94, and he just struck out Lee on a nasty breaking ball.

Circular logic aside, Mr Mims, you have yet to provide a single credible reason why you are, in fact, hot.

    NOT so fast my friend.

Too bad Pineiro lost it at the end, he had his stuff going tonight. 7 K's. Saved his spot in the rotation for at least another week or so. And Rene Rivera? 2-4. He even looked good behind the plate, he has a decent arm (not Olivo, but good) and showed some pretty good instincts in blocking a few balls that I saw.

Well, if it wasn't for that Dave "One hit in a blue moon" Hansen, it would be over!

And another win! That double Sexson hit reminded me of '95 a little. Beltre running all the way around from first, the throw late on a relay...

Great stuff. Great to have a win before heading into Florida and Washington.

Florida and Washington are going to be tough this week. I wished Florida was a home series. I would have tried to go to all 3 games.
