    Draft Talk?

We should get some going with the draft coming up.

    SS Troy Tulowitzki
The Mariners will pick third on June 7, their highest amateur draft selection in a decade, and two prominent mock drafts -- Baseball America and MLB.com -- have tabbed Tulowitzki, a junior shortstop from Long Beach State, as the club's choice.

"We might have to dig that stuff out of the attic," Ken Tulowitzki said by phone yesterday from his home in Sunnyvale, Calif. "We really hope so. We're huge A's fans, but we'll become huge Mariners fans."

    3B Ryan Zimmerman
Zimmerman really came on last spring as a sophomore, hitting .361 for the surprising Caveliers. He followed that up with an impressive showing with Team USA leading the team with a .468 batting average and 12 doubles, while tieing the team lead with 4 home runs.

    OF Cameron Maybin
ASHEVILLE, N.C.--Baseball is nothing if not a game of legacies. Positions, both real and imaginary, are bequeathed from one generation to the next, leaving the game richer and fuller each time the baton is passed.

Even though he will not celebrate his 18th birthday until Opening Day 2005, Cameron Maybin has first-hand experience regarding the impact of legacies on the game. In fact, the outfielder extraordinaire seems to make history virtually every time he steps on the field, which has led to yet another honor as Baseball America's Youth Player of the Year.

    SP Luke Hochevar
As good as Hochevar’s stuff is—and it is outstanding, with an exploding 90-94 mph fastball, an above-average hard-breaking slider, a solid curveball and a developing sinker—his makeup is what most impresses his coaches.

“I’ve never come across a guy like this as far as a student-athlete,” said first-year Tennessee pitching coach Mike Bell. “He wants to outwork everybody out there, in the weight room, film room, on the field, off the field—this guy takes preparation to another level. You hear stories about Curt Schilling, Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, how these guys prepare themselves

As shown by my avatar, I like Cameron Maybin the best. One could argue that he has the most potential in the draft, more than even Upton or Gordon. His power potential is impressive, especially once he adds some muscle to his frame. He is probably the farthest away from the majors of the guys we are considering, but we need a power hitter in the system and Maybin would like nice next to Reed and company in the future.

Id like either the Vlad like Maybin or the speedy 3B Gordon. We need more power in the system and Gordon seems like he could be a 20-20 guy at 3B which is pretty damn rare. Id prefer Godron in this situation.

Damn. I had loved everything I had heard about Maybin. Then I found out that he is the cousin of Rashad McCants.

Gordon would be ideal Porter, but unless the Royals are going to be scared off by the fat signing bonus he is going to command then he is headed to KC. And you underrate his power potential, but I also don't see him stealing 20 bases.

Anthony Varvaro could be a huge steal. Easily has 2nd round talent, but is going to need TJ surgery. He should fly through the system after he returns.
