Re: Seattle Mariners Regular Season Ramblings

The Mariners are now 12-10, with 6 cancellations. But the Offense is very much improved from last year and Jose Vidro is killing the ball right now. The fact that they are winning with Felix Hernandez on the DL is saying a little bit about how good this team is compared to last year. Now if they just keep Baek up and demote Weaver. IT WOULD HELP HARGOVE!!!

Now back to Weaver, I have to figure he wasnt going to do THAT BAD (15+ ERA, .460 OPP BA, 40 H in 17 IP) but could he be better served to be in the NL right now. Maybe this is something we all knew but why did we give 9 M dollars when we had Baek in AAA who seems to be better off than he is or Keep Gil Meche who finally got his s*** together.

The Mariners took 2 of 3 from the Yanks over the weekend to remain 1.5 games back of the Angels and a half game back of Oakland. They are one up in the loss column but those six rainouts are keeping him from being in the lead. Then again the way Cleveland is playing that may be a good thing. This also allows them to take their time with Felix (which they should mind you) coming back. Now if Richie can just hit about .230, we could put something together.

Well we now know that we are a starter or two away from competing with the Angels. If we can shore up this rotation we could very well be in this. Very interesting matchup happens on Sunday when Greg Maddux goes against Felix Hernandez at the Safe. Dammit why did I have to work on Sunday .

The Padres changed up their rotation a bit to give Jake Peavy an extra game this week.

Sunday will be Felix Hernandez vs Justin Germano

I would have loved to seen Maddux vs Felix though. When I looked at Yahoo it had Maddux vs Felix. Oh well.

We're going to have to score a lot of runs in the first two games. Batista and HoRam are pathetic.

Ramirez and Batista show an occasional sign of life every now and then....We should be lucky to win one.

I really its time for Richie Sexson to be benched for Ben Broussard at 1B and for Brandon Morrow to go to Tacoma and be a starting pitcher. Sexson isnt going to get back on track to hit his normal .240 and his power is even suffering. Morrow has struggled lately and with Lowe coming back I think he needs to be a starting pitcher again.

Richie Sexson will begin losing playing time to Ben Broussard until he can turn things around.
''It's been four months,'' manager John McLaren said. ''We've talked and talked. And I think he and (hitting coach) Jeff Pentland have found some things that may help. But he's got to get it done. We need Richie. But Ben's done a nice job.'' Sexson hit .165 in July and hasn't hit higher than .235 in any month. This is overdue. Broussard will get considerable playing time against right-handers for now.
I like Broussard and wished the Giants would have gone after him last year. Should provide more offense for the M's.

Well its about to get real interesting. On Friday, Adam Jones will get called up and Jason Ellison will get DFA'd. If this is actually true (coming from McLaren's mouth in his press conference). As for Broussard, reefer, I would like to see a platoon with Sexson vs L and him vs R. but with Jones up. God knows how that will work.
