Mariners Is it time for moyer to hang em up?

I mean, FIVE homeruns in 4 and 1/3 innings? I like the guy , he's done a lot of work in the seattle community and served the team well but you just have to know when to stop. As much as I like him I hope the M's don't keep him around. I'd love to have him as a coach but IMO he's done. Maybe he's just having a bad night and maybe it's really hot in my house and there's no air conditioning so I'm in a bad mood but he's gotta hang em up.

Oly, Going into the game Moyer had a sub 4 ERA. He is allowed to have a horrible start now and then.

Ya, I guess you're right, everyone has their bad days, strangely I don't feel as strong about him retiring now that it has cooled off in my house

Agree with Porter. Even after his last start he still has a respectable 4.10 ERA, and was the Mariners best starting pitcher statistically before that. Considering the guy is 40 or so you can't expect him to be on top of his game every night. He is going to have a bad game once in a while, like everybody else.

Meche was close to Moyer in that regard.

as far as at the end of the season do you guys think he should retire? I think he'd make a great coach for the M's, not manager yet, but maybe pitching coach?

If he can still pitch I would say let him keep pitching. It really is amazing that a pure finesse pitcher has been able to be successful going into his 40's. Another such example of that would be former Ranger ace Kenny Rogers. I think he's 40 or more now and still very successful.

It's not like Moyer has lost his stuff.

He never had any stuff to begin with. Moyer still knows how to pitch and get people out, I'd expect another string of good starts after getting shelled.
