Keep Schmidt!

It should be an easy call for the Giants on Jason Schmidt as the trading deadline nears: Keep him at all costs. The Giants may not have many believers (this column among the skeptics), but San Diego's vulnerability says they have a shot this year. If the goal is next season, assuming Barry Bonds is part of the roster, that's an even greater reason to retain Schmidt. Otherwise, they have nothing close to an ace...

I agree with the Giants keeping Schmidt. And they just may have a chance at this division still with the Padres sucking it up. But the only way to find out is by keeping jason Schmidt around.

They would of never got the kind of young talent that he would normally warrant, smart move here. It's hard to trade or sign talent like that so you got to keep ahold of it when you got it.
