    Giants Wilson's season in doubt

According to John Shea, Giants closer Brian Wilson has structural damage in his elbow and faces possible surgery.
Uh oh. Shea also mentions that Wilson will possibly be meeting with Dr. James Andrews which is never good news. Should Wilson need surgery, he'd be unlikely to return and contribute for the remainder of the season. In this case, Sergio Romo would step in as the likely closer.
The Beard now has fear! Terrible hit for the Giants but not for the reason you might think. Sure, we lost our closer but I think he can easily be replaced. We take the hit because now we can't trade Wilson in the offseason. He will command too much money through arbitration to make him worth keeping. Vogelsong will take his place when he goes to the DL.

Do you think Romo will finish the year closing?

People named Romo are historically shitty in clutch situations.

That'll teach that wanker to learn to use his non-throwing hand to jack off.

It looks like Casilla will get first crack it at but I do believe Romo should be the one closing. If it were up to me, Romo would finish the year as closer but unfortunately it's up to Bochy.

i think we all knew this was coming. i agree with ltr that the giants will non-tender wilson next year. but it isn't 100% certain that he has pitched his last game as a giant. the giants may try to sign him after the non-tender. coming straight of surgery, he is not going to get any more than a 1-year, incentive laden deal on the free agent market so he may as well do it with the giants. i don't think we really lost out on any trade value though. not realistically. the giants would never have traded a fan favorite like wilson if he was healthy. it wouldn't have been their style and it just wouldn't have happened.

I agree because our front office is incompetent and never knows when to say when.
