    Giants Giants Spring Training 2012

Spring training is finally here!! A few quick notes:
Vogelsong will be out 10 days after hurting himself doing squats
Zito altered his delivery yet again in an effort to get more movement on his pitches
Posey had a good BP and caught Lincecum and Cain
Hector Sanchez has a chance to make the team as a 3rd catcher
    Marc Kroon retired

Villalona still hasn't been granted a work visa
Runzler is not fully recovered from a lat strain he suffered last season. I don't expect much from him anyway
Lincecum sat out today's workout due to back stiffness.

Freddy Sanchez (shoulder) has been throwing from 140 feet and fielding grounders.
Sanchez is working his way back from August surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He hasn't begun throwing to bases, but fully expects to be ready for Opening Day.
I really hope Sanchez can start the year off the DL for a change.

Bochy announced that Pagan will be the leadoff man. He best do a lot better than that .322 OBP he had last year.

Sandoval said he had LASIK on his left eye

Yes, he will be in LF and I am thankful for that or at least as thankful as a person can be for saying Melky Cabrera is in their OF. I know he had a nice 2011 but I just don't see that happening again. I sure hope I'm wrong.

He's a nice complimentary guy, but, there's no way he keeps it up.

True. I just hope he brings what Kevin Seitzer taught him to SF. I wish we had a hitting coach as good as Seitzer.

Brett Pill is taking grounders at third to maximize his versatility. The Giants had Pill play 2B last year in an attempt to do the same. Pill is mainly a 1B.

Dan Runzler is scheduled to have his left shoulder examined.
Runzler suffered a lat strain at the end of last season and evidently still isn't over the malady, which is obviously a concern. He had been slated to battle for the final spot in the Giants bullpen, but, depending on the results of the exam, might now be behind the eight ball.
I doubt he would have made the team anyway with his poor control. I hope its nothing serious because I love having depth and he could be a part of a trade package.

Belt went 3-4 with a HR in the first ST game of the year.
Wilson threw to hitters for the first time this spring.
Hector Sanchez homered in his first game and and was 3-3 today. I would really like him to force his way into the backup role.
Bumgarner struck out four in 2.2 innings.
Hembree struck out 2 in his first inning of the spring.

Buster Posey (ankle) plans to try sliding Monday for the first time this spring.
He also plans to run some curves and do some catching. The Giants have held Posey out of the lineup for early Cactus League games as he ramps up his rehab, but he told Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com on Monday that his ankle is feeling stronger. Barring any setbacks, his debut come happen soon.
I keep hearing he's doing well in batting practice but it's time to see him in a game.

Also, tonight's game vs the Brewers will be on MLB Network
