Giants GM Brian Sabean acknowledged Sunday that Freddy Sanchez is likely to undergo shoulder surgery.
Sanchez is still hoping that rest and rehab will do the trick, but Sabean expressed doubt in a chat with reporters after Sunday's game. "He’s behind the 8 ball with each passing day," said the general manager. "For me, personally, it doesn’t look good." The 33-year-old would miss the rest of the 2011 season if he indeed goes under the knife.
The Giants already signed Sanchez to an extension through next year so the sooner he goes under the knife the better. Sanchez was our MVP til he went down and has definitely been missed.
