So sad that you think catching is all about the bat, and that you still think his BA is apart of anything being discussed.

And HWood.....age doesn't diminish a backstops ability to call games and manage a staff. If you actually believe it does, then you are really stupid. If anything more experience can only help in those areas

It does, however, diminish his ability to be a valuable all-around baseball player.

I mean, if you're only concerned about his ability to call a game for the pitchers and since age doesn't diminish that ability I go back to my post saying they should sign Johnny Bench.

If the Giants were a AL team than yes it wouldn't matter about his bat, but since they play in the NL, you need a catcher that can atleast be decent at the plate.

Posey was a major bulk of our offense and you have to have some offense to help replace that. Pudge is not that guy and Whiteside is as good as Pudge right now. Can we drop the Pudge talk now?

Does Whiteside handle the game like Pudge does or does he have the arm at throwing out base stealers? I am not 100%, but I doubt it.

Whiteside calls a great game and is just as good defensively. Getting Pudge would mean he would have to learn an entirely new pitching staff while providing just as little offensively.

Pudge I believe has the best % of thrown out base stealers right now. His offense isn't the same as it used to be. I think Pudge could adapt to any pitching staff especially one as good as the Giants have.

I believe a number of his past battery-mates who complained that he calls FAR too many fastballs with runners on base to give him an advantage with base runners regardless of batter/situation would beg to differ.
