According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Giants are letting teams know that Nate Schierholtz is available.
Schierholtz isn't going to have a roster spot with the Giants once Andres Torres returns from his Achilles injury in about a week. The 27-year-old Schierholtz has batted just .226 with a .613 OPS through 31 plate appearances this season but may be an attractive option for teams in desperate need of outfield depth.
Darren Ford is still on the roster so this isn't necessarily true. Ford can be sent down when Torres comes back but Nate does deserve a real chance somewhere. He has a good line drive swing and is a great OFer with a cannon. We won't get anything spectacular for him but a team would probably bite. Hate to see him go because he is our best defensive OFer.
