    Giants Belt sent down :(

Giants optioned 1B Brandon Belt to Triple-A Fresno.
He was sent out to make room for the newly-activated Cody Ross on the active roster. It's not completely unexpected, as Belt batted just .192 over his first 52 major league at-bats and the Giants are much better off with Aubrey Huff at first base as opposed to right field. We think the 23-year-old first baseman still has a very promising future, but he just isn't a finished product yet.
Belt had a lot of great ABs but just didn't have the results to keep him on the MLB roster. He struggles with inside fastballs so he still has some work to do but it was good to see a glimpse of the future. He also played amazing defense at first. I have high hopes for him and he will be back at some point this year.

    Re: Belt sent down :(

Brandon Belt went 4-for-5 on Monday night and is batting .517 since his demotion to Triple-A Fresno.
Belt also has two home runs, four doubles, three stolen bases and a 1.484 OPS in 29 at-bats for the Grizzlies. He's been playing left and right field, and should be ready to return to the major leagues shortly as a regular outfielder. Belt turned 23 years old in late April.
The Giants desperately need a boost and soon. Our best hitter in '11 (Pablo) will be out 6-8 weeks and guys like Huff, Tejada and Ross have done next to nothing. This offense is very hard to watch at the moment. Torres should be back soon which should help a little but until Huff finds his stroke and Tejada is benched, this offense will continue to struggle mightily.
