Belt had a lot of great ABs but just didn't have the results to keep him on the MLB roster. He struggles with inside fastballs so he still has some work to do but it was good to see a glimpse of the future. He also played amazing defense at first. I have high hopes for him and he will be back at some point this year.Giants optioned 1B Brandon Belt to Triple-A Fresno.
He was sent out to make room for the newly-activated Cody Ross on the active roster. It's not completely unexpected, as Belt batted just .192 over his first 52 major league at-bats and the Giants are much better off with Aubrey Huff at first base as opposed to right field. We think the 23-year-old first baseman still has a very promising future, but he just isn't a finished product yet.
