Charlie Manuel is a dumb ass hick. Had he started Halladay instead of Blanton, the series would've been tied. Now Halladay will just lose to Lincecum again.

If Halladay would have pitched last night then every starter would have had to go on short rest along with Halladay against a fully rested Giants staff. You are the dumbass.

It's the postseason, you shouldn't hold back and throw out ..Joe Blanton..
Even as a rookie, Bumgarner has more talent in his pinkie nail.

I didn't think Charlie was wrong for pitching Blanton instead of Doc, but Oswalt as the closer????

It wasn't a "save" situation and Oswalt is as good as any option for a long reliever for extra innings. It just sucks that he had to lose on a sacrifice fly.

I didn't say it was, but the idea of using a starter being inserted into the 9th kind of goes against this whole "different mentality" and "different approach" excuse often used in baseball about starters vs relievers doesn't it? Kind of similar to the excuse of how much different it is to be a pinch hitter compared to a designated hitter.

Aubrey Huff absolutely killed the momentum the Giants had going early but it was still a good game. I like Sanchez going against Oswalt especially after he pitched and lost the other night.

As for Manuel throwing Blanton, you don't want to put your team in a deeper hole having all your best pitchers going on short rest. Already in a hole, why make it bigger?

A long reliever during the postseason is typically the team's regular 4th or 5th starter, anyway.

More typically though when you DON'T have a another fresh arm to go to which he did, but I understand the idea that if he went with Lidge and it went to extras then you used him up. Thing is he could have stuck with Durbin or put Lidge in to shut them down because IF it had gone to extras specially 11,12 or 13 you would have had to start pulling starters out of your ass anyway. In that particular situation it didn't seem to be a typical move.

The plan was if the offense didn't score in the top of the 10th, they can keep Oswalt in the bottom 10th to preserve the tie. Besides, Brad Lidge doesn't exactly inspire confidence in a high leverage situation.

Both teams have had plenty of opportunities to score a lot but its 2-2 on a weird game so far. Benches have cleared, errors have cost runs, Sanchez lasted only two innings.

The Phillies are walking the guy hitting .178 in the postseason to get to Buster Posey?
