Coach says he did his best for team of free swingers

"I sleep real well knowing I took my best shot with that team," he said. "It's no secret it was a team of free swingers, which is a very frustrating thing. That's hard to change. As I told Boch yesterday, you can get by with one or two guys like that in the lineup, but you can't have a lineup full of guys like that. It didn't work.

"I guess I have to take the fall for that. I did the best I possibly could with what I had. Everybody knew going into this season that we were going to be an offensively challenged ballclub. The fact that even with the offensive challenges we stayed in the wild card until the last week or 10 days was an incredible achievement, I thought."

The article goes on to say that he is unsure if he'll try for another MLB coaching position or if he'll watch his sons pitch in the minors (Jared/A's and Josh/Cubs).

It's not fair to lump the blame on the guy when the clean up hitter was Bengie Molina. At some point, you need actual talent to bolster the lineup.

Carney had every right to say what he did. I am sure he did his best for the Giants but then again, it wasn't enough. Bobby Abreu has been with the Angels just one year and his approach at the plate has rubbed off on the entire team so it can be done. Bochy is more to blame for this team's shortcomings and he gets a two year extension
