Giants Giants Make Offers To Aurilia, Crede

Giants make offer to free agent Crede | SFGiants.com: News

I am hoping the Crede reports aren't true. The Giants have already inked Juan Uribe to a MLC and Aurilia should be set to sign one Monday. Richie is taking the weekend to think about his options. The Mets have been interested in Aurilia but he may prefer to stay in SF. Aurilia would be better for the team as he would be the ultimate utility man and really help Sandoval and Ishikawa. As long as Bochy doesn't feel the need to play him all the time, I would be happy with Aurilia accepting the offer.

Re: Giants Make Offers To Aurilia, Crede

The Giants and Rich Aurilia have reportedly come to terms on a minor league deal.
Aurilia bounced back from a poor 2007 to hit .321/.377/.526 against left-handers last season. He's no longer more than an emergency option at shortstop and he should never start against right-handers, but the Giants would have a role for him in the infield if they failed to sign Joe Crede. The big mistake would be to keep him around if they do sign Crede.
Good for the Giants A MLC is perfect for the Giants and Aurilia will help this Sandoval and Ishikawa out a lot. Giants now have some quality guys competing in Spring Training. Josh Phelps, Aurilia, Juan Uribe and Justin Miller in the pen.

Apparently Aurilia turned down a MLB deal with the Astros to take a MLC with the Giants. Classy guy Aurilia. Glad he did it too because now it looks like the Giants will not be getting Joe Crede. Crede was no better than Pedro Feliz.

Did Crede actually turn down the offer? I know the Twins were/are taking a good hard look at him to fill their hole at 3B.

Crede didn't turn down anything because I don;t think they was an offer to begin with. Sabean hasn't confirmed there ever was an offer. Since Crede is asking $5-7 million in base salary, I doubt the offer was ever made.

Interesting, because according to the Twins' site it was said that the Giants gave Crede an offer. But if he wasn't given one maybe he'll be asking less later on down the road.

It has been reported that the Giants gave Crede an offer but has not been confirmed by any of the Giants brass. Now that the Giants have Aurilia, that offer if true can be taken back.

Minnesota isn't the only club interested in Crede, 30, and indications are that Boras could be getting closer to a deal with other teams. A San Francisco television station reported this weekend that the Giants have offered Crede a one-year deal. It's still unclear whether the Twins have made an official offer to Crede, but it appears that they remain in negotiations with Boras.
