According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Giants have agreed to terms with first-round pick catcher Buster Posey.
Selected fifth overall in June's draft, Posey is said to be getting an MLB contract worth around $7.5 million.
Giants cut it close by finally got the deal done. Posey is arguably the best player in the draft and somehow the Giants got him. Posey won the Golden Spikes Award this season at FSU which goes to the top college baseball player. I am really excited about the future of the Giants. The Giants now have Posey and earlier this year they signed who many to believe will be the next Vlad Guerrero in Rafael Rodriguez, a 6'5" 16 yr old OFer. The Giants signed third round pick Roger Kieschnick yesterday. Kieschnick hit .305 with 47 runs, 15 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs and 65 RBIs in 55 games for Texas Tech this season. If the last name sounds familiar, its because he is the nephew of Brooks Kieschnick.
