I agree. We need him healthy so we can trade him mid-year.

Dave Roberts had surgery Saturday to clean out cartilage behind his kneecap.
Roberts is expected to be on crutches for 2 1/2 weeks, and the Giants aren't counting on having him back before the end of June. "We’re going to go slow at first," trainer Dave Groeschner said. "He did have a significant amount of arthritis in there. We’ll see how he responds after the first three weeks. We’re definitely going to take it a little bit easy at first to make sure these things don’t come back." Groeschner indicated that a rehab assignment is probably 8-10 weeks away. As things stand now, the Giants will probably go with a Fred Lewis-Rajai Davis platoon in left. However, Eugenio Velez and John Bowker could also figure into the mix, depending on how well Lewis plays.
Now we have have one more year with a aged OFer whose only strength was speed and now won't have as much of that.

I think Roberts may have played his last game as a Giant. Time will tell.

You're probably right. He was a good player, but is just running out of steam and the injury bug has bit him hard. It's in the Giants best interest that they get rid of him IMO.

Right-hander Vinnie Chulk was back in the Giants clubhouse Sunday morning, getting ready for what he hopes is his season debut Tuesday.

Chulk, recovering from a right shoulder strain, has been on the disabled list since March 21, after making five spring appearances. He's had enough of that.
It looks to be good timing here as the Giants bullpen has been taxed thanks to guys like Zito, Cain and Lincecum not being able to go deep into games.

No, not Vinnie Chulk! This guy is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Yes but so it most of this bullpen. Rather give him a shot over Hennessey.

Six of one, and half of dozen of another. There is not a fraction of an inch between them.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Noah Lowry has "turned a corner" in his recovery from forearm surgery.

Bochy indicated that Lowry could begin throwing off a mound soon, but no timetable has been established for his return.

Omar Vizquel (knee) is still unable to run as he recovers from a bone bruise.

Vizquel is expected to wear a knee brace when he returns, and is unsure he'll have the same range he had before his knee surgery. Giants trainer Dave Groeschner thinks Vizquel will eventually be able to play without the brace, but appears to agree that at first it could limit his defensive mobility.
Good to hear good things coming from Lowry. No need to rush and hopefully some velocity will come back when healthy. As far as Vizquel goes, this all but ensures no option next year for Vizquel. His attitude is needed, his lack of offense isn't.

Its time for the Giants to think about training Vizquel as a coach, and maybe even a manager. This man has many talents, and the Giants need to take advantage of this.

Agreed. Vizquel is past his prime, but he really knows something when it comes to defense, and if the Giants are planning to stick with the young thing then he'd be a great mentor/coach to the young guys.

Threets goes on the 15 day DL with a right intercostal strain. Yabu was called up to replace him.

Bringing up Yabu is fine by me but Vinnie Choke has to go. He was a throw in on a trade and he is still a throw in. I say throw him out.
