Noah Lowry is suffering from exertional compartment syndrome and will undergo surgery that will cost him at least two or three weeks.
This will rule him out for Opening Day and probably sidelined him until at least the latter half of April. Kevin Correia seems certain to have a rotation spot now, and Jonathan Sanchez is the clear favorite for the fifth spot over Patrick Misch and Victor Santos.
I don't know why this guy thinks Sanchez is the clear cut favorite. Misch did a good job last year despite his record and is outperforming Sanchez so far this spring. Lowry might as well forget April. Giants need to worry about signing this guy after his contract is up in 2011. They have an option on him for 2010. Lowry never seems to stay healthy so the Giants need to be cautious. Hopefully he can return earlier but we now know Lowry needs a while to get the hang of things.
