Giants Have Worst Lineup Says ESPN

ESPN - Tigers' lineup tops the charts, Giants' order picks up the rear - MLB

    30. San Francisco Giants

Current batting order: (1) Dave Roberts, LF; (2) Omar Vizquel, SS; (3) Randy Winn, RF; (4) Ray Durham, 2B; (5) Rich Aurilia or Dan Ortmeier, 1B; (6) Bengie Molina, C; (7) Kevin Frandsen, 3B; (8) Fred Lewis or Rajai Davis, CF.

Did you know the Giants ranked last in the majors in 2007 with a .387 slugging percentage -- and that was with Barry Bonds?

Now that Bonds is gone, San Francisco has a mix of veterans past their primes and young players who aren't as good as the talent the Rockies, Diamondbacks and Dodgers are running out there.

The Giants made a run at Miguel Cabrera, but you never got the sense that they were really in it. The fact that general manager Brian Sabean is even considering a "Tim Lincecum for Alex Rios or Hideki Matsui" deal shows you how desperate San Francisco is for offense these days.
I have to agree right now! This lineup makes me sick to my ******* stomach. Any lineup where Durham is hitting cleanup is just terrible. Sabean has got to do something and it has to be smart and it has to be soon. Fukudome and Tejada are now off the market and we are running out of options.

That's really pretty sad. When Ray Durham is your cleanup hitter, you know you got issues.

The Giants lineup just got a little better with Rowand signed. The lineup should go as follows:

    1. Davis-LF
    2. Durham-2B
    3. Winn-RF
    4. Rowand-CF
    5. Molina-C
    6. Aurilia-3B
    7. Ortmeier-1B
    8. Vizquel

Roberts has no business hitting leadoff or even starting at this point. Davis showed great on base skills and is the fastest player on the team. I have Durham batting second makes sense because he still has speed and is a switch hitter. Plus he can provide some pop from the 2 hole. Winn was our best hitter, Rowand has the most power, Molina hit great with RISP and has pop, Aurilia shouldn't hit any higher than 6th, Ortmeier is left handed and has a great linedrive swing and Vizquel's offense has diminished and he provides speed at the bottom of the lineup.
