    Lincecum Shut Down

The Giants have shut down Tim Lincecum for the rest of the season. Pat Misch will start in his place Friday.

It's always seemed likely that this would happen, though the Giants kept indicating that it wasn't in their plans. Now they're announcing it the night before he was due to make his next-to-last start. Including his time in the minors, Lincecum had thrown 177 1/3 innings this season. He was 7-5 with a 4.00 ERA and a 150/65 K/BB ratio in 146 1/3 IP for the Giants.
You knew this would happen. Not a bad year at all for the guy who looks like he's 12. 150 K's in 146 IP is a good sign of things to come but hopefully next year we can get more consistency out of him. Cain bounced back to have a good sophmore year so let's hope Lincecum can too. Cain and Tim are the Giants future stars.

I saw this kid pitch in LA when I went to the Dodgers Giants game and he looked like a promising young kid that could possible be a cornerstone pitcher in this league one day. Not a bad year at all for this kid though...
