The well-traveled Mark Sweeney was on the move again Thursday, sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named or cash considerations.
Sweeney leads the Major Leagues with 16 pinch-hits, 10 pinch-walks and six pinch-doubles. He can offer more help to the Dodgers, who remain in the National League West race, than to the Giants, who reside in last and need to develop prospects instead of retain role players. In fact, the Giants recalled first baseman-outfielder Dan Ortmeier from Triple-A Fresno to take Sweeney's spot on the active roster.
