    Giants @ Arizona 6/5-6/7

Game 1 should be a doozy. Matt Cain (2-5, 3.42 ERA) will be facing off against HOFer Randy Johnson (3-2, 3.89 ERA). Matt Cain has been struck with bad luck so far this year and is hoping to turn that around against the top of the West. Cain is 3-2 lifetime against the DBacks. Johnson is 7-8 against the Giants. Bonds has a .306 career average against the left hander.

Game 2 will feature our surprisingly best pitcher thus far Matt Morris (6-2, 2.66 ERA) dueling last year's Cy Young winner Brandon Webb (5-3, 3.39 ERA). Morris lost his only '07 start against the Dbacks giving up five earned in seven innings. Bonds, Durham and Winn are all hitting above .300 against Webb.

Game 3 has Noah Lowry (5-5, 3.28 ERA) going against Livan Hernandez (5-3, 3.65 ERA). Lowry has a career mark of 5-1 against the DBacks with a 2.36 ERA. Hernandez has a 3-4 record but an impressive 2.71 ERA against the Giants for his career. Bonds has a .364 career batting average against Livan.

Great pitching matchups and Bonds has good numbers against all three pitchers so maybe he can get out of his funk on this important three game series.

Barry Bonds won't face Randy Johnson in Tuesday's game after being scratched with shin splints.
Bonds is also dealing with some knee soreness. "Barry's legs are really sore right now. He has shin splints in both shins," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He needs a day. He's going to get a day. We'll see how he is tomorrow. ... I'm not overly concerned. Again, we're talking about a 42-year-old man. He's played a lot of baseball. We knew there were going to be times like this during the season." It's possible that Bonds will pinch-hit tonight and return to left field on Wednesday.
It's not like he has been helping all that much. Hell, he is hardly getting on base anymore. Fred Lewis or Ortmeier should takeover.

Ortmeier hit a 2 run shot in the 4th, before that Molina got another hit with 2 strikes, this guy is just amazing when he has 2 strikes on him. 2-2

Giants lose a tough one in 10 innings after a walk-off shot by Chris Young. Correia gives up his second walk-off homer in three days. The bullpen looked fantastic before the 10th which was good to see. New guy Messenger looked good as he pitched four outs and walked one and Taschner struck out both batters he faced. The Giants outhit the DBacks and left 16 men on base. Giants need to take the next two as they have a tough schedule after this series.

Matt Morris pitched a beauty of a game going the distance making only one mistake which turned out to be the difference of the game. Chris Young homered in the 7th to beat us for the second straight night. I have been saying for a while that Sweeney needs to go and last night proved that. The Giants had a real shot of having a big inning as they had runners on first and second with nobody out. Sweeney comes up and bunts it right to Webb who gets the force out at third. Next batter, Feliz, then singles to left where Eruc Byrnes makes a perfect throw to nail Durham at home. Vizquel then flies out to center. The perfect makings of a good inning but Sweeney had to blow by not doing the easiest thing IMO which is bunt. Sweeney went 0-4 on the night and is batting .180 and taking up a roster spot. Bochy is also to blame as he should have put Ortmeier in LF rather than Sweeney. Ortmeier has been swinging the bat well since being called up.
