Jeff Fassero got the nod today and did a fantastic job. He is 42 and doing everything our young guys can't. He pitched 5 innings giving up just one hit and struck out two. This is where Alou ****ed up. Fassero's pitch count through 5 was great and should have kept him in at least through the sixth. Just 53 pitches and 40 of them were for strikes. In the bottom of the fifth Neikro hit a 2-run homer, his fifth of the year. Why not bring Fassero out for another unless Fassero was feeling fatigued? So instead, Brower comes in and gives up a three run homer to Jason Bay with two outs and loses the lead. Herges then comes in and gives up a homer to the first guy he faces. This bullpen has got to stop giving up the long ball. We don't have one guy besides Fassero that can come in and get things done lickity split. Vizquel's hitting streak came to an end tonight Time to start a new one.
