Dave Roberts has reportedly picked the Giants over the Brewers and is set to agree to terms on a three-year deal.
We still think the Brewers are better off with Bill Hall in center field and either Geoff Jenkins or Kevin Mench in left anyway. Roberts has played well when healthy the last couple of years, but he's an injury-prone platoon player who is going to turn 35 in May. On a three-year deal, he just isn't a very good gamble.

I don't know what to make of this. We get a leadoff man with speed but my question is where is the power coming from? If we get an actual power source then I am ok with this deal. Giants did well setting the limit at three years.

Roberts will play a better centerfield than Winn and probably hit for a solid average and show good plate discipline, and of course steal tons of bases.

Usually can't hit lefties, though he was respectable in 06 and alright

I think he peaked in 05 and is going to slide down slowly for the next three years, and while that third year of the deal might be horrific and ugly, it should be at least two years of being better than Randy Winn, and by a wide margin.
