I don't think anybody on any of these forums said zito will be traded to San Diego.

There was a couple of posters, however, stating that they would want to see him traded to San Diego.

    There really is a difference.

No you guys said there was a chance of him being traded to the Padres and I sadi there was not. That's when everyone jumped my balls and there will not be a debate over this in my forum.

    Anyways, i'm done.

and LTR is right that there is no need to debate it, I apologize for pointing out the difference between wanting something to happen and stating that it will happen.

You say you don't want to debate this, yet you keep responding.

I only busted your balls for insinuating people don't have the right to even discuss it just because of the relatively low chances of it actually happening.

I do recall agreeing with you on the odds of it happening, however.

I never said you couldn't discuss it, I simply said it wouldn't happen. And I'm not debating the Zito aspect of it, not you guys busting my shit. I will debate that because you guys did it! Yes you did agree it wouldn't happen because you have a brain.

    you guys are hilarious

I do recall some Padres fans coming up with specific trades so they could get Zito and even going so far as saying Zito said he wanted to be traded to SD. There has never once been a published rumor of Zito going to SD. No one may have said Zito would get traded specifically to the Fathers for sure, but you guys definitely said he would be traded because he's a FA at the end of the year and Beane should try and get something for him (as opposed to a 1st or 2nd round pick and a compensation pick if he walks).

The only place Zito was ever going to be traded to was the Mets and it doesn't look like it's going to happen at this point. But there have not been any other published rumors about him going to team Q for players X,Y, and Z...

Reefer, let's talk about the Giants. Matt Cain and Noah Lowry have been the only consistant pitchers for the Giants, are they going to make a move for a front line starter or do they not have enough to offer?

Our starters have been the bright spot on this pitching staff and if you think Cain has been consistent then you have not been following the Giants at all. Schmidt by far has been the most consistent and Cain the most inconsistent. The Giants wil likely move Hennessey into the rotation and move Wright in the bullpen or put him on waivers.

Actually, Zito did say he wanted to come here during post game comments when the A's were in town playing the Padres. That's not something we made up, he did say it.

As far as Zito rumors, this according to MLB.com....

    Contract status: Signed through 2006
July 29: The New York Post said that the Billy Beane of the A's will part with Barry Zito for Lastings Milledge and Aaron Heilman.

You're right about Schmidt, he has been pitching well the past few weeks. Speaking of Schmidt, seems like Giants fans could be seeing the last of him since he's been talking about going to Seattle next year? Do you think the Giants try to re-sign him or is he going to be asking too much to be able to keep him?

I just got done looking through the thread in question.

    - One trade proposal was made, and it was by me, and it was a trade proposal I said I wouldn't want to make, only one that seemed fair, based on talent alone. (Barfield/Cesar Carillo for Zito) I wouldn't want that trade even if Beane offered it himself, and I said as much in the thread.

    - Zito DID state that "there's a good chance I'll be pitching in this park (PetCo) next year" while the A's were in San Diego.....he later on in the same sentence mentioned that he's a pitcher and there's a good chance that at some point next year he'll be pitching in PetCo for at least one game. It was a comment made in jest that was taken out of proportion by others not of this forum (at first) for the sake of making rumors.
By the time it found its way to the Padres forum here it was after the quote was already published elsewhere conviniently leaving out the latter end of Zito's remark....in otherwords PFF saw the doctored quote and forwarded the info here...pretty innocent, if you ask me.

    - and yes, others were stating that he WILL be traded due to pending free agency, myself included...but nobody said he WILL be traded to the Padres.

I, at the time, didn't think about the concept of getting draft picks as compensation.
